A Knight's Tale (Movie)

A Knight's Tale (2001) is a film written and directed by Brian Helgeland which is very loosely based on The Knight's Tale from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Set in medieval Europe, the plot centers on a young peasant squire, played by Heath Ledger, who, after the death of his knight master, joins the jousting circuit, an act forbidden to those not of noble birth. The film combines action, comedy, and romance, and is notable for its anachronistic use of classic rock songs, such as Queen's We Will Rock You and David Bowie's Golden Years. A Knight's Tale is considered to be the breakout movie for stars Heath Ledger (William Thatcher), Paul Bettany (Geoffrey Chaucer) and Shannyn Sossamon (Jocelyn). Alan Tudyk (Wat), Mark Addy (Roland) and Laura Fraser (Kate the Farrier) round out the very talented supporting cast, while Rufus Sewell appears as the elegantly black-clad and black hearted villan, Count Adhemar of Anjou.
