3-Center-2-electron Bond

This is a electron-deficient bond where three atoms share two electrons. The combination of three atom orbitals form one binding, one non-binding, and one anti-binding molecular orbital. Since the two electrons go into the bonding orbital this constitutes a chemical bond between the three atoms. This type of bonds are found in case of bridging hydride or methyl. See trimethyl aluminum.
