2867 Steins2867 Šteins (2867 Steins) is a small main-belt asteroid that was discovered in 1969 by N. S. Chernykh. It is named after Karlis Augustovich Šteins, a Latvian astronomer. It has a diameter of just a few kilometres. Little else is known about it, but this will change on September 5, 2008, when the Rosetta space probe will fly past Steins at a distance of 1700 kilometres. Steins Steins
