2007 Cricket World CupThe 2007 Cricket World Cup will be hosted by the West Indies. It will consist of 16 nations divided into 4 groups of 4 teams. The top two teams from each group will then compete in a "Super 8" format, similar to the current "Super 6" format, from which the semi-finalists will be decided. Although many people expected that some of the games would be played in the United States at a newly built cricket ground in Lauderhill, Florida, specifically to help promote and develop cricket in that country, the International Cricket Council decided that awarding all matches to Caribbean nations was a stronger priority. Bids from Bermuda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and a second bid by Jamaica were also rejected. The matches are expected to be played from February - May, 2007 article Participating nations ODI status Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Kenya, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe Top 5 of the following (tbd July 2005 Ireland): Bermuda, Canada, Denmark, Holland, Ireland, Namibia, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United States Venues Preliminary Round Quarterfinals Semifinals - Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica
