1999 Rugby League Tri-nations

The first Rugby League Tri-Nations competition was held in Australia and New Zealand in 1999. The competition was won by Australia, defeating New Zealand in the final. Great Britain performed very poorly in the tournament - that they were likely to became apparent when they struggled to beat a semi-professional Australian side, Burleigh Bears, who had been arranged to play the Lions in a warm-up match prior to the tournament.
