1936 atlantic hurricane season

The 1936 Atlantic hurricane season was an ongoing event in the annual cycle of tropical cyclone formation. It officially began on June 1, 1936 and ended on November 30, 1936. The 1936 season was fairly active. 16 tropical cyclones formed during the season. A tropical storm made landfall in Everglades City, Florida. A Category 1 hurricane struck central Texas; another struck Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Yet another Category 1 struck just north of Tampico, Mexico. The city was struck again by a weak hurricane, this one to the south, a few weeks later. A tropical storm hit St. Augustine, Florida; another hit Brownsville, Texas. The most notable storm, however, was a Category 2 hurricane that traveled up the entire northeast US coast. It caused only two known deaths thanks to advance warnings, but it caused nearly a million dollars in damage (1936 dollars).
