  • Frans van Schooten publishes the first Latin version of Ren Descartes' La Gomtrie. His commentary makes the work understandable to the broader mathematical community. The latin version also includes Florimond de Beaune's Notes brives, the first important introduction to Descartes' cartesian geometry
