• Circa 10,000 BC– Beginning of Jomon era in Japan
• Circa 10,000 BC– first traces of population in Randaberg, Norway
• Circa 9600 BC – End of the Younger Dryas cold period—boundary between Pleistocene and Holocene and traditionally the boundary between the Paleolithic and Mesolithic. Much land becomes habitable again

Environmental changes

• Circa 10,000 BC– the dog is domesticated.
• Circa 10,000 BC–Homo floresiensis, the human's last known surviving close relative, becomes extinct.
• Circa 9700 BC – Lake Agassiz is formed.
• Circa 9500 BC –Ancylus Lake, part of the modern-day Baltic Sea, is formed.

Cultural landmarks

• Circa 10,000 BC– Ceramic of the Jomon culture in Japan is found
• Circa 10,000 BC–Neolithic prehistoric statues were made, which were discovered in Nevali Cori and Gbekli Tepe near Urfa in modern-day eastern Turkey,
• Sometime before 9000 BC– First stone structures at Jericho, built during the pre-agricultural Natufian culture period
