. The three-membered cycle is attached to the C(alpha)-
atom
. ACC plays an important role in the biosynthesis of the herbal
hormone
ethylene
. It is synthesized by
ACC synthase
enzyme
from
methionine
and converted to ethylene by
ACC oxidase
.
