Recife Recife is the capital of Pernambuco State. The city has good beaches, baroque churches and 19-th century public buildings but for travelers it is mainly interesting because it is a good starting point for visiting nearby Olinda. The best beaches are found in Boa Viagem where you also find many restuarants and good nightlife. In the city itself the main areas of interest are the Santo Antonio and Boavista quarters on the banks of the Rio Capibaribe. The Polo Bom Jesus also in the old city is the main area for nightlife and eating out.
