Ski Resorts

In the winter time, flocks of people from the East Coast and Midwest head to West Virginia to hit the slopes.  The largest resorts are Canaan Valley (prounounced kuh-NAYHN,) Timberline, Snowshoe, and Winterplace.  Most offer accomodations ranging from camping to luxury hotels.

Winters in West Virginia can be extreme...either extremely cold & snowy, or extremely mild & dry.  Be sure to check the latest weather reports for your chosen resort.  Snowshoe, Canaan Valley, and Timberline aren't located near any airports or major highways.  You'll need to drive to get there.  Winterplace is located near Beckley (which has an airport and Amtrak station) but you'll still need to arrange transport from your arrival point to the resort.
