Spokane

Spokane is Washington's third largest city, and the largest city in eastern Washington. Unlike its western neighbor Seattle, Spokane is not known for days of rain, but rather for snowy winters, hot summers, and moderate spring and fall seasons.

Spokane offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, from skiing and snowmobiling, to water skiing, rafting, fishing, camping, hiking, and boating.

Spokane is home to acclaimed Gonzaga University as well as Whitworth College, Eastern Washington University (whose main campus is 15 miles away in Cheney), and the Spokane Community Colleges.

In 1974, Spokane hosted the World's Fair, which resulted in many improvements to downtown Spokane. Riverfront Park, along the Spokane River, has an IMAX theater, ice-skating rink, and carousel. A number of festivals are held in the Park throughout the year.

Bloomsday, the world's largest road race, is held in Spokane the first weekend in May every year. Over 30,000 people enjoy the festive 10k run.

To the east, visitors to Spokane will enjoy our Idaho neighbor, Coeur D'Alene, a small resort town boasting a beautiful lake and resort.
