Reading

Located between Harrisburg and Philadelphia, Reading is one of the oldest cities in the state. At night, look for the historic Pagoda lined in red atop the hills overlooking the city. Visit the Pagoda by day for a free historical introduction to the city, and a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.

Reading is also known as "The Outlet Capital of the World" for its variety of shopping opportunities. At the Vanity Fair Outlets in West Reading, and in a variety of historic former factory buildings downtown, you can find discounts on many famous brands such as Godiva, Coach, Levi's, Old Navy, Foot Locker, Pepperidge Farm, and more.

Although the Reading Airport itself is rather small, it does contain a number of planes from WWII. Each summer the airport recreates this era with an Air Show, complete with period dress and a visit from the Blue Angels.

Home to the Reading Phillies and the Reading Royals (ice hockey), visitors are often entertained by world class performances at the newly constructed Sovereign Center. Don't forget to stop by the Ugly Oyster Bar afterward to perhaps glimpse a view of the performer!

Nearby destinations include Kutztown, home to the Kutztown Pennsylvania German Festival each July of Fourth Weekend. Nearby Hershey, PA is home to Hershey Park, "the sweetest place on earth" and visitors can get a glimpse of how Hershey produces its sweet delights.
