Gettysburg

Gettysburg, a little town in Pennsylvania, was the site of one of the Bloodiest battles during the American Civil War (1861-1865). Nestled in the Hills of Adams County you travel along scenic farm land, a beautiful drive along old lincoln highway. Your first view of Gettysburg is a utter heart stopping surprise!

Your greeted by the many monuments of generals, infinitry and numerous other fighting men groups that fought in this Battle which started July 1, 1863.

As you travel into Gettysburg you are stunned by the "Brigadoon" charm of  it all, it's like stepping back in time. Much of Gettysburg has been restored back to what it looked like in 1863, yes many of the towns people wear the period costumes of that era which adds to the wonderful atmosphere as you make your way thru the city.

Yes, Gettysburg has a lot of tourists but more importantly Gettysburg has alot of history and they have preserved it well! The picture above is Devils Den. If it's your first visit to Gettysburg I suggest you stop at the visitor's center, pick up a map plus book a bus tour. For those who'd like to go it on their own "The Battle of Gettysburg" audio tour & guidelines is a wonderful alternative, the c.d. takes you step by step thru the first day battle to the last day of "Picket's Charge" .
