Kansas City Kansas City (often referred to as "KC") is an American metropolis with a state line running down the middle of it. Kansas City, Missouri, is the largest city in the area, and Kansas City, Kansas (affectionately known as "KCK") is the second largest. There are also dozens of small and medium sized suburbs in both states. Olathe (pronounced "oh-lathe-ah", like a lathe) and Overland Park, in both in Kansas, and Independence, Missouri are some of the largest suburbs.
