Gawthorpe Hall

Gawthorpe Hall

This Hall is at Padiham, near Burnley, a pleasant small town though one with no other particular appeal to the visitor. It was home to the Kaye-Shuttleworths [textile inventions fame] and is now owned by the National Trust.

Whereas it has some fine paintings, its principal claim to fame, one justifying a visit from anywhere in the area, is its collection of needlework and tapestry. These are of outstanding quality and will give pleasure to a much wider group than the normal addicts.

Go to www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main and you should have no difficulty in finding it.
