Stockholm Stockholm is a cornucopia of history, art and ambiance. The heart of the old town, better known as Gamla Stan, offers a trip down history lane. Not only because of its Royal palace, its cathedral and historical buildings, but also because it still looks a lot like in the old days: small alleys with little handicraft shops and the possibility of taking a trip on the water. The preservation of nature has always been important to Stockholm and its residents, so there are plenty of parks and botanical gardens to explore. Stockholm is a must for royalty (or palace) lovers as well. There are several in Stockholm itself (most of the are turned into museums nowadays) and otherwise, it won’t be a long way to visit one of the many places in the nearby surroundings. All national goverment owned Museums except the Vasa Museum have no entrance fee.
