MurciaMurcia has an airport, which although called Murcia airport is actually 50 Kilometers (30 miles) from the city in the coastal town of San Javier. The airport is called Murcia-San Javier (MJV). This airport is primarily military and is the home the the Spanish Aeronautical School which is headed by the King of Spain. San Javier is on the Costa Blanca and on the Mar Menor which is a popular holiday resort. Great beaches, good hotels and services. Transport from the airport is restricted to taxis and a journey to the City of Murcia will cost about 60 Euros. Many of the travellers coming in to Murcia airport stay on the Costa Blanca and do not visit the city of Murcia. Another international airport is being built in Corvera, about 25 kilometers from Murcia and the coast. This will be operational in 2006. Due to the present location of Murcia airport the city is not a well visited tourist attraction. However, it is well worth a visit and is an extremely good example of Spain and all its character.
