Novi Sad Novi Sad is the capital city of the province of Vojvodina in northern Serbia. Situated on the Danube opposite the imposing fortress of Petrovaradin, it is a centre of trade and culture for the whole region. Easily reached by bus or train from Belgrade it has a range of hotel, pension and camping accommodation. It is a pleasant city with wide boulavards and a central square surrounded by the Old Town Hall, the Roman Catholic church,a hotel and similar buildings dating mainly from the mid-nineteenth century. There are several good art galleries and museums, theatres and cinemas and a lively clubbing scene. The Novi Ligure site has good information about accommodation, opening hours and town tours.
