Wadden-islands Choose one of the three entirely different crossings to get to the Dutch Wadden Islands Modern Ferry crossings of the Wadden Sea on board of one of the confortable ferries departing from four different harbours on the mainland. Below, in the [Ferry crossings] section is the main information for the rail/bus transfers to the departure harbours. You'll find up-to-date timetables as well as car drivers information in the [Getting There] sections of the islands you would like to visit. Click the links for direct access. Traditional Sailing ship crossings (for small groups, info here soon; in the meantime have a look at the website below in [Traditional Sailing ship crossings] to get the feeling..) Low tide crossings / Wadlopen The third way, guess?.... by doing a sporty Low tide crossing from the mainland to the islands... Yes, in a guided group tour you'll be walking on the bottom of the sea by low tide. The [Low tide crossings] section, contains basic information on guided tours from various departing harbours of the mainland. Up-to-date timetables are available in the [Getting There] sections of the islands you would like to visit (under construction). *Tip* Should you travel by car or motorcycle, please make a note that motor vehicles will not be accepted on board of the Vlieland and Schiermonnikoog ferries. Both islands have low-traffic policy restricted to their native population only; travelers must leave their vehicles at the parking lots on the mainland. Public transport, however, is well organised and you will probably not regret the 'rent-a-bike' option for these two islands.
