Dokkum

Dokkum

Located in the north east corner of Friesland, close to Groningen, Dokkum is famous for the fact that Irish born monk Boniface was killed here when he tried to cut down a holy oak. This was back in 754 - now the inhabitants are wlecoming and friendly to foreigners, and they have are protestant Christians.

Sights include the Admiraliteitshuis. A trip to Anjum with the wind mill museum (De Eendracht) is also worth your while. Moddergat is also nearby.
