Soroca Soroca is located close to ther border with the Ukraine some 165 km form Chisinau. The city has always been a border town, and the fortress is one of the main sights today. In its present shape it was made in the period 1543-1546. It is perfectly round, with five bastions situated at equal distances from each other. Soroca prospered in the 19-th century, when it became a regional centre. Big squares, a modern street plan, hospitals, grammar schools, and churches were built. You can make a daytrip to Cosauti.
