Magdeburg Magdeburg's major forms of public transportation are trams, busses and S-bahn (or fast trains). The tram network is extensive. Tickets must be purchased in advance at a "Kiosk" or automated machines which can be found at most station stops. Students get a semester ticket at registration and can use any local public transport for the whole semester, free of charge as often as they wish. The semester ticket cannot be lent to anybody, and must be shown together with your passport another proof of identity with photo on it, in case an inspector checks
