Frisian Islands

The Frisian islands lie before the Frisian north sea coast like a string of pearls, attracting thousands of visitors and overnight guests every year. They consist of seven islands, named Borkum, Juist, Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog, Spiekeroog and Wangerooge.

Just as their sister islands in the Netherlands (the west frisian islands), most of the east frisian islands are famous for their therapeutic spas and health resorts. Some of the islands are completely car-free, such as Juist, Baltrum or Spiekeroog, making them great for wandering, bird-watchers and other nature-lovers. The islands are well-connected by ferries, making them ideal for cyclists' vacations in the sea air. When there, be sure to take a day-trip out to Helgoland to see the fantastic sandstone formations.
