Bayreuth Bayreuth is mainly famous for its Wagner festival, which takes place every year in July. The town itself is quite nice too, with the Grave of Wagner as one of its highlights. Bayreuth is also a university town and offers some interesting sights and museums. One major highlight is the Margravial Opera House, one of the most beautiful Baroque theatre in Europe. The historic gardens of the Hermitage with its mysterious grottoes and water fountains and the Richard-Wagner-Festspielhaus with its unique acoustics are also highlights. A great number of festivals offer music, theatre, and art on a very high level.
