Burgas Burgas is Bulgaria’s main port located on the Black Sea. At the same time, it’s an important industrial centre hence why it is recommended to only look at the waves and save your skinny dipping for elsewhere. Don’t let yourself be overwhelmed by the industrial side of Burgas. The old town is fairly well preserved and the collection at the archaeological museum gives a good overview of the town’s past. The city also boast one of the oldest art galleries in the country, the Burgas Art Gallery, located in a former Jewish synagogue. Some 400 kilometres from Sofia.
