Port-au-prince

Port-au-Prince feels like a small town. In reality it has more than one million inhabitants and it's by far the largest city of the country. The fact remains that there are mostly two-story buildings and only two “skyscrapers” (both less than 20 stories).

Port-au-Prince is a nice and pleasant town, it has quite a few interesting sights. One of the most interesting aspects is that there everywhere you will find people busy with their trades on the sidewalks. this gives the town a very pretty atmosphere. Be warned, however, at night Port-au-Prince can be a bit dangerous. Do not go out on the streets by yourself.

The environment of Port-au-Prince is very beautiful. You can make great daytrips to the small towns and villages in the hills. See the section on daytrips for more details.

The beaches in the city are not so great, but nearby you will find some excellent beaches where you can relax. See the section on beaches for more details.
