Milford Sound

Milford Sound is, perhaps, one of the most dramatic and unspoiled tourist destinations in the world. Steep mountains plunge into a freshwater sound that is open to the sea. The water pours off the hillsides in hundreds of waterfalls. Milford Sound is at its best in the rain. But then it rains over 200 days a year so there is a better than even chance. And what rain! with 200 inches a year or an inch a day. But even on a sunny day, the clouds lift and the mountains are revealed in all their glory.
