QueenslandFraser Island, off the Hervey Bay coast, is one of the many national parks in Queensland. This island, besides being the world’s largest sand island, offers great possibilities of exploring much of what Queensland has to offer at one go: beaches, forests, lakes and the corresponding fauna. Fraser Island is one of several islands that are proclaimed national parks. Other national park islands are located within the Great Barrier Reef Maritime Park. Although most visitors stay at the coast whether for diving or surfing activities, it would be a shame to miss out on one of the parks, especially Eungella in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area that stretches from about 200 kilometers north of Cairns to some 300 kilometers to the south.
