Palawan Island Palawan is a lush green island with some of the best spots to dive in the country. The dive sites as well as the luxury resorts are located at El Nido at the north end of the island. Go there for seashells butterflies jungle walks and the Tabon Caves an ancient burial site. Palawan is 500 km southwest of Manila. The capital of Palawan is Puerto Princessa, here is also a cute airport. If you drive ca 100 km north by main road and then 50 km west (this trip takes appr 3-4 hours), you will find yourself in Port Barton village. If you want to be secluded from the civil world, this is the place to be. I loved the village! The electricity is there only from 6-11PM, but I havn't seen more happy people. We stayed in Greenviews resort www.palawandg.clara.net, I would highly recommend this place due to fiendly staff and the beauty around the place.
