Negros Island Negros Island was named after the indigenous tribes of the area, the negritos. Negros is divided into two provinces, Negros Occidental (West), and Negros Oriental (East). The capital city of Negros Occidental and largest city on the island is Bacolod. The capital city of Negros Oriental is the charming portside city of Dumaguete.
