Tagbilaran

Tagbilaran will probably be your starting place to make some trips on the island. Close to town there are some old chucrhes dating from teh 16-th century as well as some nice small towns.

The Punta Cruz pirate watchtower is just 15 km north of town, near Maribojoc. Loon, in the same direction but a bit further, has a beautiful old church, dating from 1753. Antequera has a sunday market. It is some 25 km north of Tagbilaran.

East of town, Bool (just 3 km) has a monument commemorating the blood compact between Legaspi and Rajah Sikutana, continue for 4 km and you are in Bacalayon, which has the oldest church of Bohol, going all the way back to 1595.

You can also take a boat trip up the Loboc river. Loboc town has a church with a very beautiful ceiling. Loay also has an old church.

There are plenty of hotels in Tagbilaran, but if you prefer more quiet surroundings, you should head for Panglao Islands. Some of the resorts are very expensive, but just ask the locals to bring you to a more reasonable priced resort. There are plenty to choose from. Wherever you decide to stay, the amazing sunsets are for free !!
