West Bengal West Bengal stretches from the Himalayas in the north to the Bay of Bengal in the south. This explains why it is a state with many facets. In the southern part, there is the marvellous beach at Digha. In the northern part, Darjeeling is the most visited place, not in the least because of it astonishing views and its multiple tea plantations. After all, this is the place where the famous Darjeeling tea comes from. And then in the middle of these two extremes, there is Calcutta. Better known as the city of joy and as the city of mother Theresa, it offers a bustling insight into India's ambiguous nature: the enormous thriving big cities with booming businesses on the one hand and the poor on the other hand.
