Not only the blue waters and the nice beaches make a stay on Lakshadweep worthwhile. The 52,000 people who live on the 10 inhabited islands of the Lakshadweep archipelago are unique and distinctive as well. The Lakshadweep reefs abound with more than a thousand species of fish, all dazzling in their colours and strange in their patterns and shapes. Under water, you'll see flat-bodied, bright yellow butterfly fishes and blue-spotted sting-rays, angel fishes and sturgeon fishes, snappers and moral eels.... and a host of others that dart in and out of coral branches. It is thus hardly surprising that Lakshadweep is mainly a diving and snorkelling destination.
