Coloane

Until quite recently (1910) Coloane was a pirates' nest. Now it's a place to get away from the amazingly crowded city. Coloane has many parks that occupy 20 hectare of land including squares, swan lakes etc. in which more than hundred kinds of birds are bred. In the parks you find the Lord Tan (aka Kam Tong) Temple of Coloane, where you find a dragon boat made of big whale bone. It is decorated with fascinating silk banners.

Also look at the Curch of St.Johns, built in 1928 amd the Chapel of St.Franciscus Xavier.

There are good beaches and some inland hiking opportunities, try the 8 km Coloane trail leading up to the statue of A-Ma.
