Khiva Nukus is a known spot on the map because it is the biggest city with an airport out in the middle of nowhere. It is also the launching site to Moynak. The city has hardly a architectural monument from before the Soviet times. Culturally, the people consider themselves closer to Kazaks than Uzbeks. Nukus is the home of Doctors without Borders for the region. If you bother to go to Nukus, drop in on them. They could probably use the entertainment.
