Bishkek Bishkek is definitely the travel hub for Kyrgyzstan, allthough for connections further afield, Alma Aty, three hours over the border in the Kazakstan might be a good alternative. There are frequent busses, so that's no problem. Note that the busses to Tashkent cross into Kazakstan also, though nobody checks your passport and a visa is not needed. Air Although there are some flights on Kyrgyzstan Airlines to Osh, Jala-Abad and some other destinations, airtravel is not the safest way to get around in Kyrgyzstan. Most flights are done with Yak-40, which look more like busses than airplanes. However, if you want to get there fast, check for details on the airport, 4.5 kilometer out of town, since the local travel agents don't seem to sell tickets to individuals. Train
