Asilah Asilah has shared the fate of the other coastal towns. It was the first town to fall to the Portuguese and it took the Moroccans a lot of trouble to get it back. During the Spanish protectorate of the North not much attention was spent on this town. The Spaniards were way to busy trying to control the Rif mountains.
