Niono Niono is considered the Venice of Africa. The town is navigabel by boat. The mud brick houses, and the mud brick mosque, as impressive as the one in Djenne, give this Venice a real African feel. Niono can be visited as a daytrip from Segou or on the road from Segou to Timbuktu. In this last case, you have to realise that getting transportation will be harder when you split up the trip.
