Dogon Country Dogon country is definately one of the highlights of West-Africa and absolutely worth a visit. The main thing you will want to do is hike to a number of villages on the escarpment, with a local guide and get to know the people and the way they have lived here for centuries. For details about different possibilties, see Dogon Country. In all cases it is best to stay at least one night in one of the villages, but it is also possible to to it as a daytrip. In that case Bankas on the Mopti to Burkina Faso road is your best starting point. In other cases the best starting point to explore Dogon country is probably Bandiagara.
