Boa Vista Boa Vista has a distinctly different character from the other islands. São Vicente may be a bit dry, but Boa Vista is a desert. It is pretty flat with larger expanses of sand and gravel, and a few volcanic core mountains. Vegetation is almost nonexistant over most of the island. Sal Rei is the most important town on the island. The name means "Salt King and refers to the salt production business which used to be important on Boa Vista. Nowadays it seems like it's tourism which may bring in some money. There's lots of fantastic beaches on the island.
