Algiers

Algiers is quite an attractive city - but also one that is pretty dangerous. The old town, known as the Casbah, is a maze of small alleys and whitewashed houses, unfortunately it's also one of the least safe areas for tourists to come.

There are quite a few nice boulevards dating back from the days of the French, who come in Algiers in 1830 and stayed for 130 years.

For a great view of the city and its bay drive up to the Couvent d’Afrique. The lookout is high on a hill and the view from there is exceptional.

Daytrips from Algiers include Chrea (where you might be able to ski), Chiffa Gorge the towns of Tipasa, Djemila and Timgad and the ruins at Tenes and Cherchell.
